I’m so excited to share with you today McKenzie’s two year old milestone session we had at Bonnet Springs Park in Lakeland, Florida. When McKenzie’s mom, Amanda, reached out about a milestone session, and she mentioned wanting to have the session at the brand new Bonnet Springs Park, I couldn’t wait! Ever since I first visited the park right after it opened, I hoped so badly that someone would request a session there. Bonnet Springs Park is the perfect location for a child’s photoshoot. With its boardwalk paths, beautiful landscaping, and play areas for kids, it's the perfect location for both posed and candid shots.
BONNET SPRINGS PARK | MILESTONE SESSION | LAKELAND, FL
The day of our session, the weather was very iffy. It was extremely overcast and misting rain off and on. We said a prayer and forged ahead. Florida weather is so unpredictable, I usually watch the radar and play things by ear up until the last second. We met up at the Butterfly House hoping to capture a glimpse of a few butterflies feeding on the beautiful flowers, but we were out of luck this visit. McKenzie did enjoy watching the little waterfall there and taking in all the beautiful colors of the various flowers that were blooming in the little house. She was very curious about all the different sights and sounds in the area and did not seem to be bothered at all at this stranger following her around with a camera.
Since we weren’t able to spot any butterflies, we left there and started our trek across a boardwalk path on the way to find a playground. McKenzie’s mom brought some props that really added that extra touch that made this session even more special. I do encourage parents to bring any props or special mementos to make their child's session more personal and meaningful.
After the boardwalk we moved on to an impromptu tea party, climbed and slid down Mabel the Owl's climbing structure, had some fun on the swings, and did some more exploring along various paths. Bonnet Springs Park is absolutely the perfect location for any photo session, for people of all ages, not just kids. If you’ve never visited Bonnet Springs Park, you really need to make plans to check it out. I keep telling people it's the best decision Polk County ever made! There is so much to do and see there, and it might possibly become a weekly adventure for you and your family!
