Planning Your Maternity Session

Congratulations new mama! Whether this is your first baby or your sixth, it is a very exciting and miraculous time in your life. Webster's Dictionary defines miracle as "a surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency". My Christian faith calls that Divine Agency, God. Jeremiah 1:5 says "Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you." How amazing that our Heavenly Father knew your sweet tiny miracle, before he or she was even a blip on your radar!

Even though pregnancy can come with a lot of difficult trials, it is an amazing time in your life. It is a time of celebration and anticipation as you prepare to meet your little bundle of joy. It’s a time where you become strong – stronger than you ever thought you could possibly be. During this time, you create your initial bond with your child that will continue throughout your entire lives.

I think every pregnant woman I see is beautiful, and yet there are very few women who actually feel like they are beautiful while they are pregnant – especially during the first pregnancy. However, the miracle of pregnancy is a beautiful thing. Swollen feet, stretch marks, and hormone changes aside – you are growing a real human being inside of you! How incredibly cool is that! All of those side effects come from different things your body has to do to help nourish and protect your baby.

You are beautiful, and you should take the time to celebrate these changes and this amazing time in your life. These photos will be a great gift to pass down to your child as an heirloom of your first memories with them. This is something they can treasure forever.

WHEN SHOULD YOU BOOK YOUR SESSION?

I like to schedule maternity sessions when mamas are around 30-36 weeks. This way, you are far enough along to show off your baby bump, but not to the point where you are going to be miserable in your photos. I would suggest making contact to schedule your session at around 20 weeks to ensure you are able to get a spot on my schedule. You can access my booking calendar HERE if you would like to go ahead and get your session scheduled.

Please enjoy a sample of some of my favorite images from some of my past maternity sessions. No matter how long it's been since these photos were taken, I still get choked up at the tiny miracle God chose to bless these mamas with.
